We visited between in July 2004 for a few days and stayed with my cousin, Papu (Sandeep Mohapatra), and his family. Papu is the elder son of my Nami Pipi, the elder of my father’s two sisters. Papu is married to Minatee and they have two daughters, Rani & Chinni. Kuni Papu is the younger brother and in 2004 he was studying medicine at Bangalore and staying with his elder brother. Nami Pipi and Piusa also live with them after Piusa’s retirement. During our 2004 visit Minatee was pregnant with Rani, their eldest daughter.
Bablu was only a few months old and we debated for some time before taking the plunge. I was to attend an interview at Bangalore and it seemed a good idea for all of us to go and make a vacation of it. At the time I was still with AppLabs and the Oracle interview process which had started in May 2004 and progressed through about 10 interviews by then was still far from over.
We traveled by Bangalore Express and were picked up by Papu & Kuni Papu from the Bangalore Railway Station. We spent a long, pleasant weekend at Bangalore. I met a few of Padmaja’s old friends and relatives, some for the first time. Most memorable are Montu & his family, Montu’s sister, Sony & her husband Arvind and Goodlu, Sony’s brother.

We were in Bangalore only for 3 days, Friday to Sunday, arriving back in Hyderabad on Monday morning. We had a lot of trouble getting an autoricshaw from Kacheguda Railway Station to our flat at Srinagar Colony. There was some sort of autoricshaw strike demanding higher rates and it took us almost an hour to find one who would take us home and charged us 3 times the normal rate
