Padmaja & I haven’t had many vacations in our almost 12 years of marriage. After our honeymoon in Goa, February 1998, our first real vacation was a trip to Visakhapatnam and Araku Valley when Mamli was a baby. Then Bablu was born in March 2004 and we took the 4 month old baby with us to Bangalore for a short trip in July 2004. We followed that up with a road trip to Srisailam with my parents in October 2004 just before I joined Oracle in November 2004
The next vacation was to Chennai in September 2005 and Tirupati in November 2005.
We started 2006 with a vacation in Pune in January to visit Padmaja’s little brother, Rohan. Bablu was a little less than 2 years old at the time. That was a short but sweet vacation.
We visited Srisailam again in June 2007. This time with Padmaja’s parents. We drove again and I for one enjoyed that a lot. Padmaja didn’t 
She hates long drives. The next vacation was Goa in October 2007 with both my parents & Padmaja’s.
We didn’t get a vacation in 2008. Only the annual pilgrimage to Bhubaneswar to visit our parents, grand parents & a long list of relatives on both sides. We had planned a trip to Gangtok, Sikkim, but had to cancel out at the last minute.
We did visit Gangtok in April 2009 and that was a wonderful vacation.
The latest family vacation, sans Daddy, was to Coorg & Mysore in September 2009. And that ended in high adventure for the whole family with Padmaja & the kids stuck in Raichur because of floods and Daddy riding to rescue them
2010 was a dull year. I moved to Mumbai to join Rolta in March and the family stayed behind for the school year to complete the school year. The kids came and joined me in June 2010 when the school year started in R. N. Podar. Gunu’s transfer came through in late July 2010 and she joined us soon after. I traveled a lot to Dubai & Abu Dhabi but we as a family did not get a vacation till the last week of December. I took the whole week off and we took a mini vacation to Kashid on the Konkan coast.
